Breakfast and Bonds: DBIA Releases New Set of Bond Forms for Design-Build Projects
In 1998, the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) began publishing its family of contract forms. Without a doubt, DBIA is the leader in design-build forms. However, until this year, DBIA has not published any surety bond forms. That changed, when after a two-year joint effort with two leading surety associations (SFAA and NASBP), DBIA released 14 new forms specific to the design-build market. These forms are endorsed by SFAA and NASBP for use by their members.
Bill Quatman, DBIA, chaired the contracts task force that drafted and negotiated these forms. Bill is Vice Chair of DBIA’s 2015 National Board of Directors and Past Chair of DBIA’s Documents Task Force.
Join DBIA and CFMA at this breakfast to hear Bill explain the process used to draft these new forms, what they cover and how they differ from other industry forms.
Jeff Carey is VP – Unit Manager of Surety Operations for Lockton Companies. He will present and comment on the surety industry’s reaction to these new forms.
