Join us for an inspiring story of courage under fire as we welcome Major Brian Shul for this year’s annual leadership event.
Major Brian Shul is a former Air Force pilot who served as a Foreign Air Advisor in the Vietnam War and has flown over 200+ close air support missions. During one of his missions, his jet was shot down and forced to crash land in the jungle near the Cambodian border. He miraculously survived the crash, but suffered severe burns in the ensuing fireball.
Crawling from the burning wreckage, he was finally found and rescued by an Air Force Pararescue Team. He spent 2 months of intensive care in Okinawa where he was not expected to live. In 1974 he was flown to the Institute of Surgical Research at Fort Sam Houston, where he underwent 15 major operations. He was told by physicians that he would never fly again and was lucky to be alive.
Brian’s comeback story from laying near dead in the jungle of Southeast Asia, to later flying the world’s fastest air-breathing aircraft, has been the subject of numerous magazine articles.
After 20 years and 5000 hours in fighter jets, Brian now spends his time operating his own photo studio in Northern California, has authored several books on flying and flight photography, and speaks nationwide inspiring people with his experiences.
